How long does the effect of botulinum toxin last?
The duration of action and the result of treatment with botulinum toxin differs per person. In general, botulinum toxin works for about 3 months. The treatment can then be repeated without any problems. After several treatments, the effect may be longer.
How long does the filler effect last?
The result of a filler treatment can last 6-12 months. However, it does vary by area. Around the mouth and lips the duration of the filler is shorter than in the jaw.
When is botulinum toxin filler treatment not suitable?
You should not be treated with fillers if you are pregnant and/or breastfeeding or if you are under 18 years old. If you have other filling material at the treatment site, you should also not be treated with the hyaluronic acid-based filler. Finally, the treatment is not recommended if you suffer from active herpes simplex (cold sores).
From what age is botulinum toxin and filler treatments suitable?
Botulinum toxin and filler treatments are suitable from the age of 18.
Will the treatment hurt?
Fortunately, most people do not experience it as painful. There is the possibility to ease the pain by means of an anesthetic cream or even local anesthesia, for example in the lips and cheeks.
What are the side effects of botulinum toxin?
Redness, bruising and tenderness at the injection site. Inadvertent release of botulinum toxin into the muscles can cause temporary muscle weakness.
What are the side effects of fillers?
The most common reactions are irritation, light bruising, itching and a sore feeling related to the injections. Within a few days, these reactions disappeared.
